Adršpach-Teplice Rocks

Broumov Monastery

The rock town in the northern part of the eastern Bohemia has fascinated tourists and hikers since the 18th century; at that time a fire of several days activity destroyed the surrounding lush vegetation. The beauty of the magnificent sandstone formations became apparent. Since then the hiking trails have been  built and mountain climbers have gradually taken one rock formation after another.

Most of the names of the local rocks also come from the 18th century. The most famous include The Lovers (Milenci), the Mayor and his wife (Starosta a Starostová), The Sugar Loaf (Homole cukru), Krakonoš´s easychair (Krakonošova lenoška), The Pot (Džbán) or The Elephant Square (Sloní náměstí).
