Monastery

Monastery Premenenia Pána in Sampor

The Monastery of the Transfiguration is the first Benedictine monastery in Slovakia following the abolition of religious orders during the Communist era. The monks carry out specific duties to ensure that the monastery itself is run smoothly, such as reconstruction work, looking after the abbey’s guests, growing fruit and vegetables, harvesting, and an array  of other jobs.

The Monastery occasionally organizes  activities for the wider public, including spiritual retreats or spiritual and educational seminars. Restoration of the monasatry is still underway in order to ensure the development for the monastic community and to create new opportunities for  guests.
