Tyniec Abbey  

 

How to get there (by car – roads, car park): public transport – bus line 112 from Rondo Grunwaldzkie (travel time 25 min.); by car – exit Tyniec on the Cracow southern bypass; free car park – small at the monastery (in front of the barrier), larger on the right side of  Benedyktynska Street, coach parking by the Vistula River; by plane – Balice airport is situated 10 km from the monastery (taxi service )

Opening hours: the courtyard is open from 6:00 to 22:00; in summer the museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00, in  winter  from 10:00 to 16:00.

Visit: guided tour of the monastery (courtyard, cloister, church when available).

Abbey museum: permanent exhibition – archaeological and architectural details of the oldest period of the monastery’s existence; temporary exhibition – annual exhibitions devoted to different aspects of Benedictine heritage; tickets – adult 7 PLN, concessions 5 PLN, guided tour of the Abbey 6 PLN, joint ticket (Abbey + museum) 8 PLN, family ticket 25 PLN, hire of a guide 50 PLN per group (for Polish), 75 PLN per group (for foreign languages).

 Disabled accessibility: parking is available in the monastery courtyard; before entering the courtyard guests are asked to call reception (there is an intercom by the barrier).

Visitors with mobility needs: the museum and guest house are equipped with a lift for the disabled; there are no architectural barriers in the monastery except for the few steps leading to the church itself; for groups  with physical disabilities workshops for children and youth are organized.

Hearing impaired visitors: in the musem there are descriptions of the exhibits in Polish, touchscreens enable one to read about the  history of the monastery.

Offer for families with children: in the museum there is a small children’s corner; once  a month are organised workshops for families.

Accommodation – single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms, four-bed rooms; the new part – en suite rooms , the building is equipped with a lift; the old part – rooms without bathrooms, no lift; http://domgosci.benedyktyni.com/english/;

the café is open from 10:00 to 19:00 in the summer season;

the restaurant is open daily from 12:00 to 18:00;

the gift shop is open in summer from 10:00 to 18:00;

the shop with Benedictine goods is open from 9:30 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 9:30 to 19:00 at weekends.
